Miltiadis Varvitsiotis has graduated from Athens College and the Athens Law School.
He holds a Masters degree from Harvard University. He has worked as a shipping and business lawyer.
Since 2000 he has been elected 11 times as a member of Parliament.
He has served twice as Minister of Shipping, as Alternate Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, and as a vice Foreign Minister for international economic relations.
He has served in several parliamentarian position including twice as chairman of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Standing Committee.
In 2024 he resigned from parliament and now he is the Chairman of the Skaramangas Shipyard under the new ownership after privatization.
